Sachin Tendulkar is one of the greatest batsmen the game of cricket has ever witnessed, but the man who shaped his cricketing future from his schoolboy days is Ramakant Achrekar. The Tendulkar-Achrekar story needs no introduction and can be termed the Arjuna-Dronacharya equation from the Mahabharata.
Guru Purnima is a festival dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers and it’s traditionally celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Buddhists, to pay their respects to their teachers and express their gratitude. Tendulkar may have touched the skies with his achievements, but he remains the most devoted student to his guru and his gesture on this day says volumes about the man.”
