The third Twenty20 International (T20I) between Australia and India witnessed a sparkling moment when the hosts’ intermediate skipper Shane Watson fired his maiden century to put the visitors at sixes and seven.
Watson with this knock also recorded the highest individual score at Sydney in T20I. He reached the milestone in just 60 deliveries only to script his name with gold in the history of cricket. Watson led the side in the absence of Aaron Finch as the latter pulled an injury.
Watson opened the batting along with Usman Khawaja and looked cautious right from the start. After spending some time at the crease he went blitzkrieg and took on every Indian bowler. Australia are now placed in a commanding position and will look to set a target of anywhere near 200.
Watson earned accolades for his magnificent outing from across the globe and social media reacted to this career defining knock. Check out the best of the tweets here:
Cruel irony here for Finch. Watson fills in as captain and opener while Finch watches on with his own hamstring injury.

Amazing knock by Watson. Now waiting for @YUVSTRONG12 Magic! — Aasif Sheikh (@iaasifsheikh) January 31, 2016
Watson’s IPL price is 2 crore which is $416K. Might add another 100K above his reserve tonight. Especially with wickets.

Great effort from Watson, though he’ll be devastated he’s detracted attention from Michael Clarke’s comeback. #AUSvIND
