When Salim Durrani was hired to give cricket coaching to Salman Khan

One of India’s most famous actors and probably the most charitable star from Bollywood, Salman Khan recently revealed that he would have been a cricketer if not an actor. This story came out when Salman spoke about his childhood recently at the launch of Sania Mirza’s autobiography ‘Ace Against Odds’.

As reported by Times of India, the actor said that his father Salim Khan wanted him to become a cricketer. “My dad wanted me to play cricket. That could have happened easily but I just didn’t see myself going for cricket practice at 5:30 in the morning. This life is as it is difficult for me; cricket would have been very difficult,” said Salman and added further about the difficulties in reaching school on time after practice, “Reaching school used to be a big problem itself. At 9 I used to attend my first lecture. So I used to wake up at about 8:30 AM and barely manage to reach school on time. Now before school, it was this… I actually wanted to be a director.” Also Read: Harbhajan Singh reveals the secret behind his blissful marriage with Geeta Basra

The most interesting part of the story came when Salman said that former Indian cricketer Salim Durrani was hired by his father to coach him, “Salim Durani was hired to be my coach. First day, he saw me play, I played very well. Second day, I did really well so he called my father the third day and said your son has got a very bright future. That is the day I realised, my father came to see me play.. so I should play really badly.”

Salman is a well known actor at present and he used to play cricket quite decently as a left-handed batsman. He was also seen playing in the Celebrity Cricket League.
