It was evident that there were a lot of expectations from Pakistan’s most successful Test batsman Younis Khan in the England tour. Criticism was there right from the start of the four-match Test series against England as Younis didn’t do well in the first three Tests.
Many expected him to quit the game after such dismal performances in the first three Tests but Younis silent his critics in the fourth and final match of the series by scoring an excellent 218 at The Oval. It took him two long days to complete his double ton, which surely turned the whole scenario in Pakistan’s favour as the visitors won the Test and squared the series by 2-2. During the post-match presentation, Younis revealed the secret behind this special knock and whose advice helped him to enhance his batting. Surprisingly, it was former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin, who gave some tips on batting.
“Before the Test I got a call from Azhar Bhai who advised me to stand still at the crease and gave his experience of batting in England, said Younis after the match. That helped me a lot and I am thankful to Azhar Bhai and it’s advice like these that help you no end,” said Younis.
Further, Azharuddin also opened up on his advice to Younis. “It pained me to watch Younis Khan bat the way he had been so I decided to speak to him before the final Test,” Azharuddin said to a Pakistan journalist Saj Sadiq.
The interesting part was the day of victory at The Oval for Pakistan as they won the final Test on their 70th Independence Day — August 14, 2016.
Younis also praised his teammate and leggie Yasir Shah by saying, “I learned from Yasir how to take things on your chest.”

There have been some issues between both the countries — India and Pakistan but that has never affected the relations and bond among the cricketers of these two nations.
