Porto Alegre: Jun 15, 2014

With one day left for France to open their FIFA World Cup 2014 campaign against Honduras, head coach Didier Deschamps Saturday said the team was “ready” for the Group E match. “It would be ideal for us to get three points, and it will be a help for us to keep ourselves confident,” said Deschamps in a press conference, reports Xinhua.

“However, even Spain had lost the first match,” he added. France have based their team in Ribeirao Preto, northeast from the biggest Brazilian city Sao Paulo. It’s cooler in Porto Alegre and Deschamps thought it would be an advantage for both teams. “In northern part it’s warmer and in southern part it’s cooler. but I think cool weather is not a bad thing, it’s an advantage because players are suffering in warm weather,” Deschamps said.

Only one quarter of French training session was open to the media. The players were divided into four small groups to practice passing after simple heat-ups. “It will be our first match,” said French captain Hugo Lloris. He also added, “We have been spending weeks getting prepared for the match, everyone is ready to play the match.”
