(The seventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) witnesses its first match at Sharjah today. Both Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are playing their first match. Catch Live Scores and Live Updates of the match here)
Yuvi & Kohli smiling together is the best moment for any Indian fan. #RCBvsDD #IPL @siddharth_0703
— VINOD (@frndvinod) April 17, 2014
A couple of key decisions (spinner introductions) and catches cost #DD today, but throughout the match they seemed rusty…#DDvRCB #IPL
— Freddie Wilde (@fwildecricket) April 17, 2014
No-ball! Swept! Four more! Fifty! And a free hit to boot!
Nadeem pitches one outside leg-stump, and down goes Yuvi on his knees! A six over square-leg!
Yuvraj has his revenge! Shami dispatched over a static long-on!
Shami on. DK is trying to delay the inevitable as much as possible.
If I were Yuvraj I’d go stone pelting tonight #IPL
— Karthik Parimal (@karthik_parimal) April 17, 2014
In Bangalore? RT @FranklinnMJ: The guys who pelted stones at Yuvi’s house, now planning to build a new house for him. #IPL”

The #ipl is more crooked than Hansie and Gretal
— Justin Howard (@JPHoward69) April 17, 2014
Bangalore is more interested in #IPL Instead of elections 35% Voting really shameful… This is not democracy
— Ravish Kumar (@Ra20NDTV) April 17, 2014
This over has possibly killed the match. Yuvi stepped out, Rahul dropped short, and Yuvi sort of semi-pulled it over fine-leg. Six more!
This time over extra-cover! Another six!
Straight goes Viko! Six!
Now Yuvi goes for it. A six over fine-leg. The RCB hundred comes up.
Delhi living upto their name of daredevils. They will try to win the match without dismissing Kohli. #ipl
— HoldingWilley (@holdingwilley) April 17, 2014
Neesham’s nightmare continues. The ball has vanished over the extra-cover boundary.
Dropped again! Mayank Agarwal this time! Viko hit that one rather flat stroke, and Mayank drops it at deep point!
#IPL7 Siddhu Pajji i know u r intelligent but i am more interested to watch #IPL and listen normal commentry instead boaring & bouncer !
— Jaymin Thakkar (@jaymin8588) April 17, 2014
@bhogleharsha “He just got an SMS from Lasith Malinga!” K-A-D-A-K! #IPL
— Darshan Mane (@manedarshan) April 17, 2014
Neesham proper Dernbached that. #ipl
— WACA Leaks (@WACALeaks) April 17, 2014
Dropped! Neesham! Viko couldn’t keep the flick down, and Neesham has put down an absolute dolly from waist-height.
When television equipment interferes with the game, then you know it has become too intrusive… #ipl
— Innocent Bystander (@InnoBystander) April 17, 2014
Kohli is not firing up. Hell cmon man your swayamvar is yet to happen. #RCBvsDD #IPL

‘What can the batter do here? What does the vodafone superfan want here?! Nothing he wants his signed ball!’ Cutting edge #IPL commentary
— Emma (@emmacooper_) April 17, 2014
Now Yuvi middles it. Rahul bowls a tad overpitch, and the southpaw hits him over mid-wicket for six.
Shami bowls a slower one, and Yuvraj slices; the ball falls between third-man and deep third-man. Yuvraj is living dangerously here.
Shami bounces to have Yuvraj in trouble. The ball still takes the edge and rushes to the fence.
Virat is a good follower of Dhoni. Yuvi @ 2 down. #IPL #DDvsRCB

Patty steps out against Nadeem, and sends the ball over deep mid-wicket for another six! He is looking ominous out there.
Patty comes to party again! Treats Parnell with disdain and thumps him over point for four.
Bend it like Bechkam, Chase it like Kohli. #rcb #IPL
— MI (@DesiiBoy07) April 17, 2014
For how long has Parthiv Patel been in 12th standard now? #IPL Trivia!
— स्याही (@syaahee) April 17, 2014
Thick edge from Viko, the ball flies towards third-man, and it’s a four. Seems to be RCB’s day…
There you, Patty is in ominous form tonight! Take that, Shami! Patty steps out and swats him over mid-off for four more!
And Patty goes downtown! Made room, and dispatched the ball in style past mid-on! FOUR!
Indian fast bowlers using the short ball well against foreign batsmen…a brave new world! #Shami #Aaron #IPL7 #RCBvsDD
— Hemant Buch (@hemantbuch) April 17, 2014
Parnell bowls short, and Parthiv pulls him ferociously. Four.

Maddinson goes big! Steps out and creams it over extra-cover! Straight out of EA Sports Cricket 07, that!
JP to bowl as Patty and Maddy walk out.

Terrible drop at deep mid-wicket by Maddinson. JP gets another boundary! They finish off in style!
Humongous six from JP! A huge swipe off Dinda that landed into the stands over deep mid-wicket!
Full-toss on off-stump. You can’t get things easier than that. Ross simply creams it through point for four.
Hmm, the guy who bowled 3 overs for 9 or the guy who bowled 3 overs for 34? Here you go Ashok. Do I over-simplify at times? No. #ipl

Amazing fielding from ViKo there. A run-out attempt followed by an amazing stop.
ViKo recalls Chahal.

That’s two golden ducks for DD.
Here’s JP.
… and found. Play resumes.
It seems the ball has been lost…
Starc pitches up, Vijay simply flicks the ball over square-leg into the stands. No, I am not having memories of Viv Richards off Mike Hendrick.

Vijay and Mayank have walked out. Here’s Starc…
There have been a deluge of Tweets coming in. While Gayle’s exclusion is the main topic of discussion, people have been mentioning the anti-Pakistan player attitude of IPL given the inclusion of Wasim as a coach, Rameez as a commentator, and now Shoaib as an expert. Why don’t you read Nishad Pai Vaidya’s excellent article on the same?
Why doesnt #IPL feature any non-hindi speaking hosts and anchors? Is it close for people who speak Non-Hindi languages?

Welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014. We are ready for the coverage of the second match today, between DD and RCB. Both the teams have strong batting units, and will be looking to pile up huge scores in their first IPL 2014 outing. Bangalore have a star-studded line-up and have kept the top order core of Chis Gayle, Ab de Villiers and their captain Virat Kohli. Some of the key batsmen for Delhi in the batting department are Murali Vijay, JP Duminy and Ross Taylor. These three should be fixtures in the line-up.
With Pietersen out, Quinton de Kock might just get a game with Jimmy Neesham being used as the all-rounder lower down the order. And, in the bowling, Delhi would mainly bank on their Indian roster. Mohammed Shami will lead the way and Jaydev Unadkat may also come in. Shahbaz Nadeem would continue the spinning duties as he has had a successful time with Delhi in the past. And, to help him out, there would be Rahul Sharma. Manoj Tiwary and Saurabh Tiwary will be crucial in the batting order.
I am Abhishek Mukherjee and will take you through this contest. Of course, it is just the second game of the season, so there is plenty of excitement and one is more interested to see how well the teams play this season with a revamped roster.
You can read our preview to the game here.
