Aaron Finch has raced to a half-century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 contest between Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Delhi Daredevils at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Finch got to his half-century off 37 balls and achieved the mark in the 15th over. This gives Hyderabad good impetus in the slog overs as they are trying to put up a big total against a Delhi side that has been bolstered by the return of Kevin Pietersen.
Earlier in the day, Shikhar Dhawan had won the toss and had chosen to bowl first. He gave Hyderabad a good start early on and was in good form as he smashed 33. That innings included five fours and a six. But, once he got out, it was Finch who took control. David Warner hasn’t had the best time in the middle and as a result, it has been Finch who has done all the hitting.
Warner had infact started off with a six, but then he slowed down. Finch smashed a six and two fours in the 15th over to get to his fifty and setup a base for a good assault at the death. Warner was given a life in the field as Manoj Tiwary dropped a skier in the 16th over. This is Tiwary’s second dropped chance as he had earlier grassed a chance offered by Dhawan.
In 17 overs, Hyderabad look pretty at 139 for one. Warner is gradually covering lost ground and seems to be set to smash in the last three overs.
