Australian legends— Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden, Justin Langer and Andrew Symonds—are set to get back on field once again which will be a pleasure for the cricket fans across the globe. They are going to be a part a Legends XI that will take on Perth Scorchers as part of the WA Festival of Cricket at Aquinas College in Perth on December 11. That game will demonstrate the 2015 KFC T20 Big Bash League’s kick-off before the reigning champions play Adelaide Strikers on December 21 in the season opener. A similar game had taken place in 2014 as well. READ: Adam Gilchrist believes Cameron Bancroft can replace Chris Rogers in Australia’s Test side

Not to forget, while Langer is the head coach of Scorchers coach, Gilchrist is the franchise’s No.1 ticketholder.

According to a report from Cricket Australia, Langer suggested that it is a great opportunity for the young players to compete the cricketers who were one of their country’s best. “This is an unbelievable opportunity for our players, especially our younger players, to come up against some of the most respected names in cricket. The experience they will gain from playing against these players and having the opportunity to speak with them on the day can only help them with their cricket. The Scorchers played against the Legends last pre-season and BBL|04 went pretty well, so hopefully we can repeat that formula,” he added. READ: England vs Australia 2015: David Warner claims to follow no-drinking policy

It was also announced on Saturday that the Festival of Cricket, which was first held last year, will be played again in 2016. Last year’s Festival of Cricket T20 game was a huge success, with Brian Lara joining the likes of Gilchrist, Hayden, Langer and Symonds in the Legends XI, who had unfortunately lost to the Scorchers by 50 runs.
