Ian Bell became only the second English batsman to cross 5,000 runs in the the fourth One-Day International (ODI) between Australia and England at Hobart. Bell got to the landmark when he crossed to 10. He had failed in the first ODI against Australia, but made up for that failure by scoring a superb 85 not out in the second match.

Earlier, Australia won the toss and chose to field first. Steven Smith, captaining the side for the first time on debut, announced at the toss that there were three changes: David Warner, Shane Watson, and George Bailey had to miss out, and were replaced by Shaun Marsh, Cameron White, and Moises Henriques. England went in with the same side.
