The BCCI today announced cash awards for Team India players after the historic Test series win against Australia including bonuses equivalent to the actual match-fee payable: which is INR 15 Lakhs per match for Playing XI and INR 7.5 Lakhs per match for the reserve players. In a statement undersigned by the Committee of Administrators, the BCCI congratulated the Indian Cricket Team for registering the first ever Test series win in Australia and reaffirming their No. 1 position in the ICC Test rankings. With the fourth Test at Sydney Cricket Ground ending in a draw, India sealed their first ever series win on Australian soil by virtue of their victories in the first (Adelaide) and third Test (Melbourne).
Thus, under Virat Kohli, India ended their 71-year wait for a Test series win Down Under. India have thus won Test series in England, Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, New Zealand and West Indies with South Africa the sole exception.
