Michael Clarke, David Warner, Steven Smith and other Australian cricketers remembered there late friend, teammate and excellent upcoming cricketer, Phillip Hughes on his birthday on Monday, whose life ended in tragic incident on-field last year. Hughes who would have turned 26 in a couple of days had passed away on 27 November 2014 after he was hit by a bouncer off Sean Abbott during the Sheffield Shield match at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He lost the battle at St Vincent’s Hospital, two days after the incident. The cricketers kept their respective posts on social media simple and short. Their one-liners were enough to indicate the tremendous grief that is still in them. READ: When Brendon McCullum paid perfect tribute to Phillip Hughes with dazzling double
While Clarke shared a picture saying, “Happy Birthday bro”, Smith just said, “Happy Birthday Bruz.” Three days earlier was Hughes’ first death anniversary and during that tough time the Australian side was on field playing the first-ever day-night Test. The match which ended inside three days at Adelaide was won by the hosts beating New Zealand by three wickets.

Both the teams had worn a black armband with the initials “P.H” written on it as a tribute for Hughes as the match had begun on his death anniversary. Clarke had even posted an image on 27 November, 2015 saying, “Wish you were here #408.” Smith who had taken over the charge of the Australian Test side following Clarke’s retirement had tweeted,” One year has passed since we lost our great mate. We will be thinking of you out in the middle today as always Bruz. #63notout #408forever.” READ: Phillip Hughes tragedy: Remembering the day the cricketing world was shaken
