India Red were off to a steady start on the opening day, as they were 61 for no loss against India Green at tea break in Duleep Trophy 2017-18 at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Thursday. The openers in the form of Sudip Chatterjee and Priyank Panchal have been watchful. While Sudip remains unbeaten on 35, Panchal remains unbeaten on 25. As for the Green bowlers, none have managed to get a breakthrough for now. Mohammed Siraj has been the most economical bowler in the session, with none for four. Earlier, India Red skipper Dinesh Karthik won the toss and elected to bat first. Although the tournament is underway and was organised in a haste, it has saw a number of confusion even befoe the opening ball of the match. The unavailability of the players has been a big issue the chief selector MSK Prtasad has been facing. Few have left for English county stint, while a few are unfit to compete. Meanwhile, the venue at Lucknow is still under construction and does not have the proper facilities at place at the moment, which further adds to the woes.
