South African batsman Farhaan Behardien has said that he has laid the ”demons” of his team”s last visit to the sub-continent as South Africa heads into the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.

Behardien, who experienced an horrific tour to Sri Lanka in 2013 by only managing to score a total of three runs in the three-match T20 series, was subsequently dropped from the squad, but his form in the domestic T20 series has earned him a recall for the recent Australia T20 series and as subsequently, the squad for Bangladesh.

According to Sport24, despite top-scoring for South Africa in their warm-up match against Bangladesh ‘A’, Behardien however, admitted that he was nervous with flashbacks of their tour of Sri Lanka still haunting him occasionally.

However, the batsman said that he has now accepted the defeat as a tough period of his career and a part of his journey, adding that he has laid those demons to rest ahead of their World T20 games.

Behardien further said that although many consider his team to be outsiders, there is no reason why they cannot go onto become crowned as champions, because of the lessons they have learnt from previous visits to the subcontinent.

Behardien could be re-introduced to the South African batting line-up as he is the only specialist batsmen in reserve with captain Faf du Plessis being ”50-50” and Dale Steyn nursing a right hamstring strain suffered during the recent Test series against Australia, the report added.
