Kolkata: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s advisory committee comprising former star batsmen Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman on Tuesday afternoon interviewed the likes of Pravin Amre, Lalchand Rajput and Anil Kumble who are in the fray to be the national team’s head coach. Tendulkar, who could not be present attended the meeting via video conference. “I have made my presentation already. Let’s see what happens. Sachin was not here but we had a word via video conference,” Ambre told reporters. Anil Kumble likely to face former teammates for India’s head coach interview
Australian Stuart Law, former India team director Ravi Shastri and ex Australia all-rounder Tom Moody are also scheduled to be interviewed by the panel via teleconference. Current chairman of selectors Sandeep Patil was reportedly not called for the interview. The BCCI had received a total of 57 responses to its advertisement for the job, and 21 of them were shortlisted for the advisory committee to review.

India’s former spin great Anil Kumble, is all set to face his former team mates for an interview regarding the head coach role on June 21. The process for selecting India’s next coach has caught up the speed as the announcement will be made anytime soon. Apart from Kumble, the other 21 applicants also have to appear for an interview on June 21 at Kolkata. Some who cannot travel to Kolkata will giving interview over video conferencing. BCCI current secretary Ajay Shirke spoke to Times of India and said, “The meeting is being held in Kolkata because Ganguly cannot travel out of the city due to personal reasons.”
