Perth: Australia offspinner Nathan Lyon, who grabbed his 14th Test career five-wicket haul on Sunday during Day 3 of the second Test against India at Perth, has drawn high praise from cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Lyon, who has drawn equal with Sri Lanka legend Muttiah Muralitharan’s record against India, after the 31-year-old claimed figures of 5/61 in his 34.5 overs. Lyon and Muralitharan now have seven five-wicket hauls against India in Test cricket.

Lyon claimed the first wicket of the day when he sent vice-captain Ajinka Rahane, who edged it behind to Tim Paine, for 51 in the first over. He then returned to clean up the tail in a span of 12 overs with Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah all falling to his off-spin.
