India and England tussle in what will be a virtual semi-final at the Western Australia Cricket Association (WACA) ground in Perth. Both teams are languishing at the bottom of the table courtesy inconsistent performances through the Australia tri-series. India have been more fortunate than England. The previous match against Australia at Sydney may have settled India’s fate but for incessant rain that came to their rescue. The match was abandoned after a mere 16 overs were possible. England on the other hand may feel hard done by but the fact remains that they’ll fancy their chances against India whom they beat convincingly in their earlier encounter at the Gabba in Brisbane. To compound matters for the Indians, the Perth Pitch is likely to offer plenty off pace and bounce which should work to the advantage of England’s tall fast bowlers. A cloud of ambiguity hovers over India’s team combination which is far from finalised. Rohit Sharma is unlikely to feature in any games preceding the ICC World Cup 2015 owing to an injury and Shikhar Dhawan’s parched run of form has exceeded reasonable limits.
