Dasun Shanaka on Saturday was charged by International Cricket Council (ICC) for altering the condition of the ball on Day Two of the second Test against India at Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur. However, Sri Lankan team manager Asanka Gurusinha said that it was an error of judgement on the part of the young seamer and he is fully aware of it now. Shanaka was caught tampering the ball in the 50th over of the Indian innings; he was fined 75 per cent of his match fees by the ICC. On Shanaka altering the ball condition
“It is actually error of judgement on Dasun’s part. Just one over it happened. None of the team members knew that and it wasn’t planned or anything. He is very remorseful about what had happened. He takes full responsibility for that. The senior players have spoken to him. He needs support. He is a young kid and this is his third Test match. The team has got disciplinary guidelines and he has to follow that. I don’t want to go into details. We had a chat with Match Referee. We have seen all of that. The best thing for the team is to let it go,” said Gurusinha.
