Virat Kohli willing to be part of full West Indies tour

Contrary to media reports, the Indian captain is 'ready and willing' to be part of the full West Indies tour consisting three,T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests scheduled for the tour.

While reports have surfaced that Virat Kohli and other regular India players could be rested for India’s tour of West Indies, a report in The Times of India states that, contrary to media reports the Indian captain is ‘ready and willing’ to be part of the full West Indies tour consisting three T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests.

It was earlier reported that Kohli and Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah will be rested for the limited-over leg of the tour starting August 3. The national reported that while Bumrah, who played all ten matches in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup and in fact has been part of every Indian playing XI across formats in the past 8 months, will play thetwo  Tests.

Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar, who were injured during the Cricket World Cup, will be assessed later in the day. Both have checked in to National Cricket Academy for rehabilitation. ALSO READ: Shikhar Dhawan, Vijay Shankar report at NCA for rehabilitation

“There’s no word yet on Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar (who had to leave the World Cup midway due to injuries). The chief selector may have an idea because he’s been following this up. Let’s see, we’ll have a better idea tomorrow (Thursday) on how they’re recovering,” sources in the know said as quoted by the national daily.
