Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) captain George Bailey spoke about the merits of having a star like Virender Sehwag in the team. The Australian Twenty20 (T20) skipper expressed his conviction that Sehwag would have an impact on their campaign.
Speaking to The Hindu, Bailey said that he was sure that Sehwag would bring great value to the team. “No doubt, he [Sehwag] will have a big impact. Having him around the group is a great thing. He is experienced and talented. Just having someone who has been such a great player across all formats, I think we can learn a lot of things from him. It will be great for him to go out and play with freedom,” Bailey said.
Sehwag last played an international match for India in March 2013, before being dropped due to bad form. He recently got back to his old run-making ways first by scoring a century for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) against Durham in a Champion County Test match, and then stringing together some useful scores for Delhi in the recently concluded Syed Musthaq Ali tournament.
Bailey concluded by saying, “We have got good balance, some experienced players and quality youngsters. Every team is good on paper and every side will be competitive.”
