IPL 2016 Auction Live Updates & Blog: Martin Guptill, Hashim Amla, Usman Khawaja remain unsold

Hello! A very good morning and a warm welcome to all on the big auction day for the ninth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL)! This is Pramod Ananth, and I will be bringing you the live updates from the IPL 2016 auction which is being held in Bengaluru. For those who are unaware, the IPL 9 auction will have as many as 351 cricketers from India and overseas, and there are many big names. The IPL 2016 will begin on April 9 and will end on May 29. Yuvraj Singh and Kevin Pietersen are at the top in the list, followed by the bowling duo of Ishant Sharma and Dale Steyn. The 2016 IPL Auction is underway in Bengaluru on Sunday, as eight of the teams are going head to head to make the best signing of players for their respective teams, who would clash in the 2016 season (season 9) of the 2016 IPL. The season has a couple of surprises as a couple of the oldest franchise in the league in the form of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been suspended, leading to the entry of a couple of new teams in the form of Rising Pune Superkings (RPS) and Gujarat Lions (GL). With 351 players up for Auction, it’s all set for a cracker.

Final chance for the players to find their new IPL teams. All the players will have to mention names of three unsold players, who can be presented for auction once again. This will be the final session of the auction.

Kzhitiz Sharma was put up for auction again, but none of the franchises went for him for a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs

Unsold players put up for auction again. Here is the list of players, who continue to stay unsold.

Bowlers, who remained unsold:

James Pattinson is put up for auction again at a base price of Rs. 1.5 crores. But the franchises have decided not to bid for him andhe remains unsold.

Bengal spinner Pragyan Ojha is next at a base price of Rs. 50 Lakhs and he finds no team bidding from him.

Bueren Hendricks, yet another South African player, who goes unsold for a base price of Rs. 30 Lakhs.

Parvider Awana remained unsold at a base price of Rs. 30 Lakhs and he still remains unsold.

Australian bowler Ben Laughlin can go to a franchise for a base price of Rs. 30 Lakhs and he is unsold even in this round.

Bharghav Bhatt has a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs. He was part of the Kings XI Punjab, but no team has purchased him this time.

Pankaj Jaswal has a reserve price of Rs. 10 Lakhs and he finds no bidders and remains unsold.

With a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs, Navdeep Saini remains unsold.

Saurabh Kumar has a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs and he remains unsold.

Fast bowler Rishi Arothe does not get a single bidder with a reserve price of Rs. 10 Lakhs.

Baltej Singh is the next bowler and he has a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs. He goes unsold.

All-rounders, who remained unsold:

Sean Abbott, who played for RCB last season has a base price of Rs. 50 Lakhs. Nobody makes a bid and the Australian stays unsold.

England all-rounder Chris Jordan is available at a base price of Rs. 1 crore. But the price might be a bit too much for the teams to make a bid and he remains unsold.

Rohan Prem remains to be unsold

Akshdeep Nath base price is Rs. 10 Lakhs and he still remains unsold.

Rahul Tewetia too had a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs and there were no takers for him too.

Syed Mohammad had a base price of Rs. 20 Lakhs and the all-rounder is unsold.

Nathan McCullum and Juan Theron had base prices of Rs. 50 Lakhs, both remain unsold.

Another all-rounder Dinesh Salunke is set a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs and he is unsold.

Ravi Jangid with a base price of Rs.  Lakhs finds no bidder at all.

Mahipal Lomror too has a base price of Rs.  Lakhs and remains unsold.

Gurinder Singh too has been given a Rs. 10 Lakh base price and he is still unsold.

Batsmen, who remain unsold despite being put into auction again

Among the players put into auction, Martin Guptill still remains unsold at a base price of Rs. 50 Lakhs.

Hashim Amla too does not find an IPL team and remains unsold.

George Bailey was given a base price of Rs. 1 crores and he goes unsold.

Michael Hussey with a base price of Rs. 2 crores, goes unsold.

Usman Khawaja too does not find an IPL home and there are no bidders for him again.

Bangladesh ‘keeper Mushfiqur Rahim remains unsold despite being put up for auction again.

Indian uncapped wicketkeeper Ankush Bains remains uncapped once again.

Australia wicketkeeper Cameron Bancroft has a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs and he still remains unsold.

Assam batsman Arun Karthik has a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs and there are no bids for him.

Evin Lewis lit up the BPL with a superb century but despite of having a base price of Rs. 20 Lakhs, he is unsold.

Australian Alex Ross is up for auction now, with a base price of Rs. 20 Lakhs. He is unsold.

AV Wankhede is available at a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs and is still unsold.

Prashanth Gupta has been in good form in the domestic circuit and with his base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs, he finds no buyers.

Accelerated process, is where the franchise can pick from the unsold players and begin a fresh bidding. We will be back in 20 minutes to bring you the happenings of that session, which will be the final session of the auction.

On to uncapped spinners now:

KK Jiyas is available for a base of Rs. 10 Lakhs and nobody bids for him.

Aussie leg-spinner Adam Zampa, who made his debut today against New Zealand is available for a base price of Rs. 30 Lakhs. But he is unsold.

Hardik Patel is unsold for a base of Rs. 10 lakhs.

Rahil Shah, the Tamil Nadu spinner is available at a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs. He is unsold, not a single bidder.

Bharghav Bhatt has a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs and he is unsold.

Karanveer Singh, another talented spinner has been given a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs. He is unsold.

Let’s move on to uncapped bowlers now:

C Stephen is available at a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs. He is unsold.

Maharashtra bowler Dominic Muthuswamy‘s base price has been set at Rs. 10 Lakhs and bidders for the fast bowlers.

Vikramjeet Malik‘s base price of Rs. 20 Lakhs and has played 13 matches in the IPL. Nobody interested in buying him.

Veer Pratap Singh is available at the price of Rs. 10 Lakhs. No bidders and he will be unsold.

Harmeer Singh Bansal won the IPL with Deccan Chargers in the second season. His base price is Rs. 10 Lakhs and he is unsold.

Ashwin Crist is available for Rs. 10 Lakhs but no franchise is interested in this youngster.

Rahul Shukla has played for Mumbai Indians in the past and can bowl at a lot of pace, but nobody is interested in him.

Sidharth Trivedi had a successful stint at the IPL with Rajasthan Royals. A clever bowler, he bowls excellent slower deliveries as well, but he is unsold.

Pawan Suyal was part of the Mumbai Indians squad but there were no bidders for a base price of Rs. 10 lakhs.

Uncapped all-rounders now:

Prashanth Padmnabhan is available for a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs, but he is unsold.

Irish hard-hitting batsman Kevin O’ Brien goes unsold. Surprising!

Kevon Cooper had a good time with the Rajasthan Royals, but nobody makes a single bid for a base price of Rs. 30 Lakhs.

Moving on to uncapped wicketkeepers now

Pinal Shah is the next player up for grabs and despite having a base price of Rs. 10 lakhs he goes unsold.

Another excellent player for Karnataka, CM Gautam can be bought beginning with a base price of Rs. 20 lakhs, but he goes unsold.

Another talented cricketer Ankush Bains is available for a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs. No bidders for him and he remains unsold.

Rajasthan wicketkeeper Dishant Yagnik is again available for abase price of Rs. 10 Lakhs. He too is unsold.

Manvinder Bisla, who won KKR the final once was available for Rs. 10 Lakhs. Nobody bid for him though.

Welcome back and we are going to start with the uncapped players, starting with the batsmen

 Mithun Manhas has a base rice of Rs. 30 lakhs and he is the first player to be unsold after the lunch break.

Ankit Bawane has played a few matches for the Mumbai Indians and he too goes unsold for Rs. 30 Lakhs base price.

Himanshu Rana too goes unsold for a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs.

Debabrata Das has played a few games for KKR and for a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs, he finds no takers.

T Suman has played for MI and SRH earlier in the IPL, but he has not been sold at a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs.

Aiden Blizzard is up for Rs. 30 Lakhs but no franchise is interested.

Final set before the lunch break and it’s bowlers again.

Taskin Ahmed the Bangladesh quickie finds no buyers for Rs. 30 Lakhs.

Shannon Gabriel too goes unsold.

Sri Lanka fast bowler Dushmantaha Chameera too finds no IPL home, He remains unsold.

Hardus Viljeon, who made his Test debut for South Africa finds no bids for a base price of Rs. 30 Lakhs.

West Indies’ Tino Best now! His base price is just Rs. 30 Lakhs. No bids and he remains unsold.

Australian talent Jackson Bird is available for Rs. 30 Lakhs and he too is unsold.

Scott Boland made his international debut in the series against India and he remains unsold for a base price of Rs. 50 Lakhs.

All-rounders turn again.

Isaru Udana is unsold, so his his teammate Dilruwan Perera.

Dusan Shanka another Sri Lankan all-rounder, aged 24, is unsold with base price of Rs. 30 Lakhs.

Surprise! Surprise! Bangladesh’s Soumya Sarkar has found no buyers, The all-rounder was priced at Rs. 30 lakhs. He might be bought in the later stages

Narsingh Deonarine is yet to play an IPL match and the opening bid of 30 Lakhs did not arrive and he goes unsold.

Henry Davids from South Africa has decent experience in the shortest format but he is unsold for a base price of Rs. 50 Lakhs.

Milinda Siriwardana is one of the most consisten perofrmers for Sri Lanka of late and remains unsold for a base price of Rs. 30 Lakhs.

Unknown Sri Lankan quantity Dilshan Munaweera remains unsold.

Nobody is interested in West Indies’ Chris Barnwell and remains unsold.

Sekkuge Prasanna has been impressive of late but does not find a single bid for a base of Rs. 30 Lakhs.

Kiwi all-rounder George Worker scored a fifty on T20I debut and he goes unsold for Rs. 30 Lakhs

Bowlers turn again now!

Fiedel Edwards priced at Rs. 50 lakhs finds no buyers. Unsold!

Another West Indies bowler Jerome Taylor is priced at a base price of Rs. 50 Lakhs as well and he too goes unsold.

Parvinder Awana is priced at Rs. 30 Lakhs. Could’ve been a bargain forthe franchise had they bought him but unsold.

Sudeep Tyagi, an unknown quantity has played 14 IPL matches but he finds no buyers for a base of Rs. 30 Lakhs.

Shaun Tait was horrible upon his return to the international stage and he goes unsold after his base price was Rs. 1 crore.

Pankaj Singh has played 17 IPL matches and represents Rajasthan in the domestic circuit.  He too goes unsold.

Sri Lankan Nuwan Kulasekara has a base price of Rs. 50 Lakhs. No franchise interested and he is unsold.

Australian Ben Laughlin was up for grabs for just Rs. 30 Lakhs. Silence all over again and nobody bids for him.

Krishmar Santokie, who currently plays in the MCL was given a base price of Rs. 30 Lakhs. Unsold

Back to all-rounders now:

Farhaan Behardien remains unsold.

Nathan McCullum, a veteran T20 player does not find a new IPL home.

Sri Lankan all-rounder Jeevan Mendis‘ base price is Rs. 50 Lakhs and he too is unsold.

Rs. 50 lakhs base price for South African all-rounder Vernon Philander and nobody is interested.

Juan Theron, another South African has played 10 IPL games and the opening bid of Rs. 20 Lakhs had no takers. Unsold!

Shehan Jayasuriya, the youngster with a bright future from Sri Lanka finds no buyers for Rs. 30 Lakhs base price.

Rayad Emrit has nobody bidding for him for a base price of Rs. 30 Lakhs.

New Zealander Anton Devcich is placed at Rs. 30 Lakhs base price and finds no bidders.

Johan Botha has played in 34 IPL matches and is priced at a reasonable Rs. 50 Lakh base price. No takers!

Ashton Agar, who made a memorable debutt in the Ashes is placed at Rs. 50 lakhs base price.

Robin Peterson is priced at Rs. 50 lakhs base price. Unsold

On to batsmen again:

Lahiru Thirimanne goes unsold despite having a low base price of Rs. 30 Lakhs.

Richard Levy‘ base price was Rs. 50 Lakhs and he too doesn’t find any buyers.

Hard-hitting Cameron White is placed at a whooping Rs. 1.5 crores and he unexpectedly goes unsold.

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal with a base price of Rs. 50 Lakhs remains unsold.

West Indies middle-order batsman Marlon Samuels base price is Rs. 50 Lakhs. He is one of the most feared batsmen in the world, but surprisingly goes unsold.

Dean Elgar played well in the recent tour of India and no franchise bids even once. His base price was Rs. 30 Lakhs.

Reeza Hendricks, South African batsman goes unsold for base price of Rs. 30 Lakhs.

Fast Bowlers up next:

Joel Paris made his ODI debut recently against India for Australia and at a base price of Rs. 30 Lakhs goes unsold.

Munaf Patel, having played 61 IPL matches is up for grab for Rs. 50 Lakhs. But no bidders for him and he goes unsold.

Burean Hendricks, South Africa bowler has played a few IPL matches and he is unsold.

Next set are the all-rounders:

Andrew Tye, who made his international debut for Australia in the recent series finds no buyers.

Doug Bracewell priced at Rs. 30 Lakhs goes unsold

England all-rounder Chris Jordan, priced at a base price of Rs. 1 crore is unsold. A bit high don’t you think?

Wayne Parnell now! Base price at Rs. 50 lakh. No bidders for the South African and he goes unsold.

Aussie Ben Cutting is priced at Rs. 50 lakhs. No franchise interested and he remains unsold.

30 lakh base price of Kiwi Grant Elliott and he goes unsold.

New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham is the next one to get unsold for a base price of Rs. 50 Lakhs.

Sean Abbott placed at Rs. 50 Lakhs is unsold as well. Played for RCB last season.

Mumbai all-rounder Abhishek Nayar’s base price is Rs. 30 Lakhs. No bidders and he goes unsold

Now moving on to the batting section:

Australia’s opening batsman Joe Burns goes unsold for a base price of Rs. 1 crores

Veteran Australia batsman David Hussey, priced at a base price of Rs. 1 crores too goes unsold.

Stylish West Indies batsman Darren Bravo goes unsold at a price of Rs. 50 Lakhs goes unsold.

Adam Voges, who has been in the form of his life is placed at a base of Rs. 1 crores and he goes unsold.

Uncapped Australian batsman Nic Maddinson goes unsold at Rs. 50 lakhs.

Owais Shah, currently playing in the MCL goes unsold at a base price of Rs. 1 crore.

Tamil Nadu batsman Abhinav Mukund is placed at a base of Rs. 30 lakhs and unsurprisingly goes unsold.

Spin bowling section now:

Sri Lankan off-spinner Sachitra Senanayake is placed at Rs. 50 lakh base price. No franchise makes a bid and he remains unsold.

Veerasamy Permaul, the West Indies spinner’s base price was Rs. 30 Lakhs and he too goes unsold.

Australia spinner Nathan Lyon too goes unsold. Shocking!

Devendra Bishoo, who has been in excellent form of late finds no buyers even at a low base price of Rs. 30 Lakhs.

Australian Michael Beer too is unsold.

The mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis finds no takers for a base price of Rs. 50 Lakhs.

Suleimann Benn, one of the better spinners available at West Indies’ disposal too remains unsold.

Rahul Sharma, who has played for India at the international stage does not find a new home.

Cameron Boyce played a couple of matches in the T20I series against India and no franchise bids for him.

West Indies leggie Samuel Badree too finds no buyers.

Pragyan Ojha, who’s base price was Rs. 50 Lakhs finds no buyers, despite being oneof the most consistent performers in the tournament. Highly surprising!

Moving on to the fast bowling section now

Kane Richardson from Australia is the first fast bowler to go unsold.

Ashok Dinda a veteran in the IPL is placed at Rs. 50 Lakhs base price and there were no takers for him this time.

Australian fast bowler James Pattinson having represented KKR earlier, goes unsold with a base price of Rs. 1.5 crores

Now we move on to the all-rounder section

First all-rounder out of the hat is Manoj Tiwary. His base price is Rs. 1 crore. He goes unsold.

Ravi Bopara, the English all-rounder is up for grabs now. His base price is Rs. 1 crore. And he remains unsold.

Tillakaratne Dilshan is the next player at a base price of Rs. 1.5 crores and he too goes unsold

Jason holder, the West Indies skipper. with  a base price of Rs. 50 Lakhs goes unsold!

Holder’s teammate and T20I skipper Darren Sammy goes unsold as well!

Thisara Perera the Sri Lankan all-rounder goes unsold. He would have been an asset for any team.

Ratnakar Shetty will make the draw for the wicketkeepers

Sanju Samson will be the first one up for grabs, base price of Rs. 2 crore. Lions and RCB started the bidding with DD joining in. After in intense bidding war. GL eventually backed out and Samson eventually went  to sold for 4.2 crores to the DD.

Shane Dowrich of the West Indies goes unsold!

Mushfiqur Rahim with a base price of 30 lakhs, goes unsold!

West Indies ‘keeper Johnson Charles goes unsold!

Brad Haddin remains unsold with base price of 1.5 crores.

Morne Van Wyk, South African ‘keeper remains unsold!

Sam Billings and Ben Dunk go unsold as well.

Cameron Bancroft, who made his international debut for Australia recently is at a base price of Rs. 10 Lakhs.

The IPL 2016 auction will feature as many as 351 cricketers from India and abroad, and the notable names in the auction will be Yuvraj Singh and Kevin Pietersen, who were released from their respective franchises. Few more big names in Dale Steyn, Ishant Sharma, Shane Watson, Ashish Nehra, Aaron Finch will be in the auction process on Saturday.

The teams were wise in retaining their key players, and many from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) went to auction process. The two new teams bagged key players from both the sides, with MS Dhoni getting the captaincy of Rising Pune Supergiants and Suresh Raina being appointed as the captain of the Gujarat Lions. Here is the list of unsold players:

Martin Guptill from New Zealand is the first player who has gone unsold! His base price for the IPL  9 auction was Rs 2 crores.

Aaron Finch with base price of Rs 1 crore is the second cricketer who goes unsold.

In the second round, Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara goes unsold at base price of Rs 50 lakhs!

Hashim Amla at base price of Rs 1 crore goes unsold!

Subramaniam Badrinath goes unsold. Base price was Rs 50 lakhs.

Mahela Jayawardene goes unsold for Rs 1.50 crores.

Michael Hussey goes UNSOLD! His base price was Rs 2 crore.

Usman Khawaja’s base price is Rs. 1 crore and he goes unsold

The auction will be held in Bengaluru on Saturday, and it is expected to be one-day affair. It must be remembered that IPL teams are allowed a maximum strength of 27 players, including nine overseas cricketers.
