A six-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai on Tuesday has put Chennai Super Kings back at the top of the IPL 2019 points table.
The defending champions CSK had lost two games last week and on Monday slipped to second place after Delhi Capitals beat Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur. Back home at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, in match 41 of season the MS Dhoni-led franchise beat Sunrisers Hyderabad off the penultimate delivery.
Shane Watson roared back to form with a scintillating 53-ball 96 to power CSK towards victory. Needing nine from the final over of the game, CSK lost Ambati Rayudu for 21 with the scores level but managed to win off the penultimate delivery.
With this victory, CSK have all but confirmed their spot in the IPL playoffs as they have 16 points.
