IPL 2019 points table, Orange Cap and Purple Cap holders: Updated after CSK beat SRH

A six-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai on Tuesday has put Chennai Super Kings back at the top of the IPL 2019 points table.

The defending champions CSK had lost two games last week and on Monday slipped to second place after Delhi Capitals beat Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur. Back home at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, in match 41 of season the MS Dhoni-led franchise beat Sunrisers Hyderabad off the penultimate delivery.

Shane Watson roared back to form with a scintillating 53-ball 96 to power CSK towards victory. Needing nine from the final over of the game, CSK lost Ambati Rayudu for 21 with the scores level but managed to win off the penultimate delivery.

With this victory, CSK have all but confirmed their spot in the IPL playoffs as they have 16 points.

After this loss, SRH remain at fourth place on the points table.

On the Orange Cap table for most runs in IPL 2019, SRH opener David Warner has consolidated his position at the top. He went into the match against CSK with 517 runs and took his tally to 574 with another half-century. Warner’s opening partner Jonny Bairstow, who played his last game of IPL 2019 before leaving for England, ended his campaign with 445 runs from 11 innings.

On the Purple Cap table for most wickets in IPL 2019, Kagiso Rabada of Delhi Capitals remains at the top with 23.
