Mumbai Indians‘ (MI) all-rounder Kieron Pollard and Royal Challengers Bangal0re‘s (RCB) Mitchell Starc were on Tuesday involved in a heated verbal spat during their sides’ Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 clash at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. During the altercation, Pollard lost his cool and even threw his bat at the RCB pacer. The umpires had to intervene to take control of the situation during the 17th over in Mumbai’s innings.
After Pollard missed out on hitting a bouncer, Starc said a few words to Pollard, which did not go well with the Mumbai batsman. On the next delivery, Pollard who was on strike backed off, but surprisingly Starc followed him and bowled the delivery intentionally at the batsman. Pollard certainly did not like this, and threw his bat in anger, which fell short of him.
Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli also went to have a word with Pollard, who was visibly very upset with the incident. The social media websites such as Twitter were flooded with reactions on the incident. Here are a few:
Thinking back to Starc/Pollard and Russell/Watson clashes.. does UNFAIR PLAY come into it? Why doesn’t umpires penalise 5 runs to culprits?

To all those saying Pollard threw the bat at Starc, first, he didn’t throw it at Starc, second, it was only after unbelievable provocation.

Pollard & Starc deserve at least a 1 match-ban …it does get a little hot under the collar but remember a lot of kids watch this game!
