Kings XI Punjab lose two wickets, but stay in control in chase of 125 against Royal Challengers Bangalores

Apr 28, 2014

Virender Sehwag looked good for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2014 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 7. Aaron came back to bowl the sixth over of the innings after going for eight runs off his first over. After an uneventful four balls, Saha flicked the ball to square leg. It looked like it would clear the ropes comfortably, but Mitchell Starc took a fantastic catch running along the boundary rope. Sehwag was on 19 from 12 balls.

Ashoke Dinda drew first blood for RCB, finding the outside edge of Cheteshwar Pujara, as Pathiv Patel took the catch. Wriddhiman Saha came in to bat at No 3, and looked circumspect in his first two balls. Sehwag fought back off the last few balls of the over, first hitting a boundary through square leg, and following it up with a whip-flick through midwicket to make it two fours off successive balls.

Varun Aaron came on to bowl the fourth over bowled quick straight away, crossing 140 kmph with ease. Sehwag drove him through covers for the second boundary of the innings. Aaron conceded eight off the over.

Earlier, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) made 14 for no loss after three overs against Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014. Cheteshwar Pujara was batting on nine and Virender Sehwag on three. Punjab were chasing a paltry 125-run target. It had been a slow start from the Punjab opening batsmen.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Virender Sehwag began the run-chase for Punjab. Mitchell Starc opened the bowling as Virat Kohli wanted to get his best bowlers in right at the beginning. Pujara opened the scoring with a push towards deep point for two runs. It could have gone for a four, but AB de Villiers ran back from cover, slid in and stopped the ball just in front of the boundary. Albie Morkel bowled the second over. Sehwag got of the mark with a single towards deep cover.
