That ends first day of play between CA XI and Indians. CA XI were ealier bundled out for 219 as Indian bowlers bowled well. Shikhar Dhawan was out early but Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara carried on till the end of the day.
Shikhar Dhawan departs. A sour start to the tour for Dhawan. He stood their on the wicket for quite sometime but departed after scoring 10 runs. Cricket Australia XI would be happy to get the first breakthrough.

The Indian batsmen have made a sound start to the innings. They have a new challenege which starts with this game. Vijay has also hit two sixes early in the innings.
CA XI ahave been bundled out for 219. The last effort for the tailenders helped the team to a decent score. Varun Aaron picked up three wickets for Indians.
This partnership is taking a bit longer for the Indian s to break. Nielsen’s useful cameo has also taken Cricket Australia over the 200 run-mark.
Two more wickets in quick succession. Nielsen has come out all guns blazing. Australia is the nearing 200 run-mark.

Cricket Australia have suddenly slipped from 126 for three to 140 for six. Set batsmen Smith departed earlier, and now Carters is on his way back as well. Aaron struck with the wicket of Gregory after Ashwin.

Smith and Carters continue to steady the ship for Cricket Australia. A boundary each scored by Smith and Carters. Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are bowling. Carters has got to his 9th First-Class fifty. Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar has got the wicket of Smith.

Good recovery by Smith and Carters since lunch. They’ve added 36 runs since the break. Shami and Aaron have been bowling in tandem post lunch. Bhuvneshwar comes in for the 39th over.

Shami and Aaron continue bowling, and Carters and Smith continue batting well. Carters especially has been impressive today. He started off slowly but gas picked up his pace since. Meanwhile, Kelvin Smith has looked quite impressive as well, hitting Shami for two boundaries in an over.

Shami resumes after lunch. Two runs to begin the session. Aaron continues from the other end. His two-wicket burst changed the tone of the last session. Can he come up with an encore? Carters hits a boundary and takes two more off the over.

So after an entertaining first session, Cricket Australia XI head to lunch at 78 for three. Ryan Carters has been secure, while new man Kelvin Smith has looked positive. Karn Sharma has not impressed with the ball, but India would be happy with proceedings so far.

Shami has bowled eight overs for 14 runs, and he is finally taken off. Karn Sharma comes on now. And he is hit for six off the third ball he bowls. Not quite the most promising of starts. Aaron continues now, he’s bowling the 21st over. AND HE STRIKES! Ashton Turner caught behind for a good 29. In walks Nick Stevens. AND HE’S BOWLED HIM! Two ball duck, and Aaron is on fire! Kelvin Smith is the new man.

Aaron into the attack now, he bowls the 11th over. Just a run from it. Shami continues. Three off the over. Aaron again, just four leg byes. And Bhuvi back now from the other end. Bowls a maiden. Aaron to Carters, and he gets a boundary. And Shami comes back, so just an over from Bhuvi.

Shami and Bhuvi aren’t giving away any easy runs here, there has been just one boundary in the first 10 overs. Great start to the tour for the Indians. Shami has been especially tight, bowling three maidens out of his five overs.

Mohammed Shami opens the bowling with Bhuvi. Just four off that over. Bhuvi continues. Just a single off the last ball. Shami again. And it’s a maiden. Bhuvneshwar again. Turner gets three. Good start here by the Indians.

So here we go, Bhuvneshwar Kumar starts India’s tour of Australia. Starts off with three dot balls in a row before conceding a single. OH AND HE STRIKES! Matthew Short edges to Wriddhiman Saha first ball, and the Indians have their first victim!

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog of the first tour game between Indians and Cricket Australia XI at Adelaide. India’s tour of Australia begins with a practice match against Cricket Australia XI in a two-day affair that will provide an opportunity to India to test out their line-up — both batting and bowling — ahead of the Test series scheduled to begin on December 4.

With these games being two-day matches, a team may only have an innings each for its batting and bowling. Thus, it is important to allow most players a hit so that they get some game time ahead of the first Test. Virat Kohli will captain the Indian team, as MS Dhoni isn’t available until after the first Test. This game would also allow him to settle into the role of leading a side in a longer version of the game.

Firstly, India have to play the three openers in the side. Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay, the frontline openers, should be favourites to commence the innings in this game. The tyro, KL Rahul, can come in at No 3. Earlier this year, Rahul had toured with the India A side, but played games on good batting surfaces. If this wicket has something for the seam bowlers, the trio may be tested. However, it would be a good initiation on this tour.

Looking at the opposition, one would say that India may not be tested a lot. Young Ashton Turner leads a side that features some promising players such as Matthew Short and Alex Gregory. There aren’t any big names in this team. Which is why, this game is more a tryout for India than any serious indicator of the times ahead.

Cricket Australia XI: Ashton Turner (c), Matthew Short, Josh Lalor, Ryan Carters (wk), Harry Conway, Nock Stevens, Alex Gregory, Seb Gotch, Jonte Pattison, David Moody, Kelvin Smith, Sam Grimwade.
