Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog and updates post of Match No. 26 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 between Gujarat Lions (GL) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). The match will be played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. GL are currently at the bottom while KXIP are at No. 6 in the IPL 2017 points table. Both teams have won two out of the six matches they have played and this match will decide who goes up the ladder. Playing in home conditions, GL will definitely have the advantage and it will be a tough task for the Punjab boys to snatch a victory from the hosts. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Gujarat Lions (GL) vs Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), IPL 2017, Match 26 at Rajkot
A part where the Lions require improvement is their bowling. They have a heavy batting line-up with the likes of Suresh Raina, Brendon McCullum and Aaron Finch being part of it and the top-order has been in good form. Dinesh Karthik in the middle order has been elemental in adding important runs and the only part GL need to worry about is their bowling combination which they are yet to settle. However, Ravindra Jadeja will be their key player for the Rajkot fixture. Apart from him, Andrew Tye can emerge as the game changer if picked.
KXIP have a heavy top-order similar to GL but the middle lacks balance and that is where they differ from the hosts. Hashim Amla, Manan Vohra and Glenn Maxwell are in great touch and are sure take the team off to great start but the rest of the line-up will have to contribute equally if not more for a good total on the board. KXIP’s bowling has been overly dependent upon pacers and Akshar Patel will be their biggest weapon for the spin-friendly Rajkot track.
