In the game No 51 of Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai Indians will take on Delhi Daredevils at Wankede stadium, Mumbai.  Delhi have been very disappointing in IPL 7. They have won just two games till now. To make it worse for Delhi, they have lost close games which they could have won.

On the other hand, Mumbai have been inspired by the stellar performance of batsman, Lendl Simmons. The right-handed West Indian batsman has been on fire for them. In their last game against Kings XI Punjab, he scored the first century of IPL 7. It was a truly remarkable knock, as he played shots all over the park. Other than him, Kieron Pollard has been in fine run of  form. The burly all-rounder has also taken some fine catches in the deep.

For Mumbai, Harbhajan Singh has been one bowler who has delivered consistently for them.  Their main wicket-taker Lasith Malinga though, is now in England to represent his country. Mumbai need to desperately win this game, for them to have any chance of qualifying for playoffs.

With Delhi, it has been a case of what might have been. Despite having a fine batting line-up, they have struggled for consistency. The biggest disappointment has been Kevin Pietersen, the skipper. He has struggled for consistency and form in IPL 7. His captaincy too hasn’t been up to the mark.  JP Duminy has played some fine knocks, but in the recent games he too has struggled for form. Dinesh Karthik has fired only in fits and starts.

Their bowlers too have been largely below par. Shabaz Nadeem has bowled with decent control. But he isn’t a genuine wicket-taker. Delhi though, will be looking for a win in the game against Mumbai. If not for anything else, it is a good to have a win under your belt.

The track at Wankhede is expected to be flat and with a fast outfield coming into play, one can expect a run feast. One hopes that it will be a closely contested game with Delhi being able to lift their game and give the crowd their money’s worth.
