New Zealand managed to restrict Sri Lanka to 276 in the fourth One-Day International (ODI) at Nelson, after Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene‘s classy batsmanship threatened to take the score past 330-run mark. At one point of time Sri Lanka were 245 for in the 45th over. Since then some excellent death bowling by Kiwi bowlers, Tim Southee to be specific and some poor batting by Sri Lankan batsmen integrated a collapse. The visitors lost their last six wickets for just 31 runs.

Earlier On a bright sunny day at Nelson, Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews won an important toss and decided to bat first in this crucial encounter. New Zealand side have made three changes for this game. Kane Williamson, Grant Elliott and Adam Milne have come in place of Tom Latham, Nathan McCullum and Mat Henry.

The Lankans had a shaky start. The early wicket of Dimuth Karunaratne brought Sangakkara in the crease in the fifth over of the match. He along with Tillakaratne Dilshan put a 102-run partnership for the second wicket. After Dilshan got out Jayawardene came to wicket played a counter attacking knock. The experience pair of Sangakkara and Jayawardene batted Sri Lanka out of trouble and helped Sri Lanka to put Sri Lanka on a strong position.

Both Sangakkara and Jayawardene missed their hundred though. Jayawardene missed it by just six runs. For New Zealand Tim Southee was the most successful bowler. He took three for 59. Apart from him Adam Milne and Mitchell McClenaghan got two wickets each. On this small ground, this total look very much chaseble total for the powerpacked New Zealand batting line-up.
