Kolkata: Rahul Ghosh, the young cricketer who was hospitalised on Tuesday following a head injury, was deeply saddened by the passing away of fellow cricketer Ankit Keshri, with whom he had played a match. “Rahul and Ankit played together in a league in Chinsurah. Rahul knew him well. He was deeply saddened at the news yesterday [Monday]. He did not talk much, and went to sleep early after having dinner and today this happened,” his aunt Kajori Ghosh told reporters on Tuesday. Rahul, now a law student, had taken up cricket when he was three and a half years old and is known as a reticent boy.
“He mostly kept to himself. We have always encouraged him to play the game ever since he was three and a half years old,” she said.

Keshri, a former Bengal under-19 cricket captain, died on Monday following the head injury he picked up in a collision with fielder Sourav Mondal while taking a catch during a local knockout tournament on Friday.
