In the seventh match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 7 between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Sanju Samson had propelled Rajasthan to a commanding score.

With the early Shane Watson carnage derailing Punjab, George Bailey brought on his trump card Mitchell Johnson and it reaped dividends immediately. Stuart Binny, who had looked dangerous pulled half-heartedly and David Miller atoned for his earlier cardinal sin on the field with a simple catch, which he made heavy weather of. Australia’s future hope Steven Smith came to the crease and found Johnson hard to get away and the 16th over just produced three runs and a wicket.

Parvinder Awana was brought on to bowl the 17th over and he started of terribly by bowling a loosener on the leg-side that was dispatched for a boundary. Samson then ended his brief dry spell at the crease with a terrific six over long off that brought up his well deserved half-century. Awana then had his revenge a ball later by bowling Samson off a toe crashing yorker. The Kerala batsman made 52. Laxmipathy Balaji bowled the 18th over of the match and Steven Smith got on to the act by hammering a full-toss down the ground for a boundary and followed it with a late cut that brought the same result. Smith hit yet

Earlier, Punjab won the toss and elected to field in match seven of IPL 2014. Punjab have brought in Murali Kartik in place of all-rounder Rishi Dhawan and Australian batsman Steven Smith comes his place of his veteran compatriot Brad Hodge, who misses this game due to a sickness.
