In the seventh match of the Indian Premier League between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals were in cruise control with Sanju Samson and captain Shane Watson in control over proceedings against the Punjab bowlers. The two batsmen at the crease have brought up their 50-run stand in no-time.

After the strategic time out after nine overs, Shane Watson decided to follow Sanju Samson’s feats at the crease and a slow sweep of left-arm spinner Akshar Patel resulted in a boundary. Watson did not hold back and a slog sweep found the hands of David Miller in the deep, only for the usually reliable South African to grass a simple chance. The ball rolled to the boundary.  Watson soon got into the groove and showed his prowess with a lofted shot over extra cover for a boundary and followed it with a six, straight over bowler Lakshmipathy Balaji’s head. Samson then slog swept Murali Kartik for a boundary but Watson creamed the left-arm spinner for a four, another slog sweep and a huge hix over deep-mid wicket. 21 runs came of that Kartik over.

Earlier, Punjab won the toss and elected to field in match seven of IPL 2014. Punjab have brought in Murali Kartik in place of all-rounder Rishi Dhawan and Australian batsman Steven Smith comes his place of his veteran compatriot Brad Hodge, who misses this game due to a sickness.
