Rajeev Shukla retained as IPL chairman following BCCI AGM

The BCCI AGM saw the board announce a host of sweeping changes, mostly targeted against conflict of interest.

Rajeev Shukla was retained as the Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman according to the latest reports coming in after the conclusion of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Annual General Meeting (AGM). Shukla, who had served as the chairman of the lucrative cash-rich league between 2011 and 2013, before returning to the post in April 2015. Among the other developments following the conclusion of the AGM, Roger Binny was removed as the national selectos and Ravi Shastri was removed from the IPL governing council in the board’s effort to battle conflict of interest among the board officials. Also, N Srinivasan was removed as the International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman, and will replaced by current BCCI President Shashank Manohar. Shukla had served as the IPL chairman following the removal of Lalit Modi after the third edition of the league in 2010, and remained in the post till 2013 before making a comeback in the position earlier this year. Shukla had recently announced the board’s decision to remove both Jaipur and Kochi from the list of cities that will bid for new IPL teams, that will replace the tainted franchises of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and  Rajasthan Royals (RR) on December 8.
