Himachal Pradesh defeated Jammu and Kashmir by 5 wickets in the Round 5 of the Ranji trophy 2016-17 match which was being played at the JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi. Himachal were given a target of 210 runs by Jammu and Kashmir which they completed with 5 wickets to spare. Paras Dogra was named as Man of the Match for his innings of 89 runs in the first innings which was the highest individual score in the whole competition. Initially, Jammu and Kashmir opted to bat first and ended up posting 162 on the board. Opener Shubham Khajuria was the top scorer for J&K as he scored 48 runs while Parveez Rasool 26 runs. Mayank Dagar finished with the figures of 4 for 33. Following the total of 162, Himachal posted a huge total of 370 runs, thanks to Paras Dogra’s 89 and an unbeaten knock of 79 runs from Rishi Dhawan. Aamir Aziz finished with the figures of 4 for 56. J&K responded in a strong manner in the second innings with the bat as they registered 417. Despite posting 400 + total in the second innings J&K were able to post a target of only 210 which team Himachal surpassed in a decent manner. J&K batsman Ian Dev Singh missed out on his hundred by just a run while Khajuria scored 86. Bipul Sharma was the best bowler for Himachal in the second innings as he finished with the figures of 4 for 97.
