Eight wickets to Jammu & Kashmir captain Parvez Rasool proved the highlight for the visiting team on day two of their 2018-19 Ranji Trophy Elite Group C round four match at Palam, but hosts Services still claimed a lead of 157.
By stumps on Thursday, J&K were facing defeat at 115/6, behind by 42 runs.
From 131/3 overnight having lost three wickets to Rasool, Services were dismissed for 252 with the one-time India allrounder recording career-best figures of 33.4-8-85-8. He added Services captain Rajat Paliwal (22), Rahul Gahlaut (40), Devender Lohchab (0), Arun Bamal (12) and Diwesh Pathania (28).
Pathania got Shubham Khajuria for 12 to further lift Services with his fifth wicket of the match, and the scalps of Ahmad Omar Banday for 7 and Irfan Pathan for 2 to Sachidanand Pandey had J&K in trouble.
The 21-year-old Bamal, who on day one claimed figures of 7.5-2-13-5, trapped Ian Dev Chauhan lbw for 15 to add to the strife. Pathania returned for another spell and removed Shubham Pundir and Obaib Haroon, after which Rasool batted his way to 53 by stumps with Aamir Aziz supporting him with 3 from 25 balls.
