Tripura bagged their first win of the Ranji Trophy 2018-19 season after a thumping 10-wicket victory over Goa on the final day of their Round 6 Elite C match at the MBB Stadium in Agartala on Monday.

Resuming from their overnight score of 113/3, still adrift by 53 runs, after Tripura enforced the follow-on, Goa lost their fourth wicket in Snehal Kauthankar, who was run out for 27. Kauthankar s wicket then triggered a collapse.

Darshan Misal was the next to go after he was caught behind by SK Patel off Abhijit Sarkar to depart for 8. Suyash Prabhudessai, who was the only batsman to offer some sort of resistance to the bowling attack, returned to the pavilion after a well-played 65 off 107. He was cleaned up by Harmeet Singh, who snapped the wicket of Mohammad Asaduddin two balls later.

Harmeet returned to pick his third wicket to send Lakshay Garg for just 2. Manisankar Murasingh then wrapped up the innings with the wicket of Goa s tail-enders Krishna Das and Vijesh Prabhudesai as Goa ended their innings at 173, leaving Tripura to chase just 9 runs for victory.

Murasingh and Harmeet picked up three wickets each with Harmeet boasting of a slightly better economy rate going for 46 in his 18 overs at 2.56 as opposed to Murasingh, who went for 55 runs in his 21.2 overs at 2.58. In reply, Tripura took chased down the target in the first over with Joydeep Bainik smashing a boundary to seal the win.

With their first win and seven points, Tripura have shot up to the eight position, while Goa, yet to open their account, are firmly occupying the last spot in the ten-team group.
