Plate Day 2 Round 6

Puducherry needed less than two days to wrap up the proceedings against Arunachal Pradesh as they secured their third straight win of the ongoing Ranji Trophy season. Arunachal were bowled out for a mere 71 in 22.2 overs with Pankaj Singh (5/25) and captain D Rohit (4/7) sharing nine wickets in a massive 334-run win on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, Paras Dogra slammed 139 from 143 balls (19×4, 1×6) while Fabid Ahmed put up an allround show, scoring 88 as Puducherry were bowled out for 351, setting a massive 406-run target for Arunachal.

But Pankaj and Rohit brought a quick end to the match as they ran through Arunachal batting like a hot knife through butter. The first wicket fell off the third delivery of the chase after Samarth Seth was cleaned up for 4. By eight overs, Arunachal had lost half their side for 33 runs with pacer Pankaj claiming four of them.

Rohit took care of the lower order while Pankaj brought an end to the innings with the scalp of Deendyal to complete his fifer. Just three of the Arunachal batsmen recorded double-digit scores with none crossing 14.

Brief Scores: Puducherry 136 and 351 (Rajat Paliwal 139, Fabid Ahmed 88; Deendyal 4/63) beat Arunachal 82 and 71 (Pankaj Singh 5/25, D Rohit 4/7) by 334 runs
