In a dramatic day which saw 20 wickets fall, Haryana emerged on top and require 98 runs to win with two full days remaining and nine wickets in hand to win their last Ranji Trophy 2018-19 Round 9 Elite C match against Services.
After conceding a first-innings lead with left-arm spinner Arun Bamal the wrecker-in-chief with seven wickets, Haryana bounced back to bundle out Services for just 79 in their second dig on the notorious Lahli pitch on Tuesday with left-arm spinner Tinu Kundu, who pocketed six wickets in the first innings, adding another five to his tally. At stumps, Haryana were 3/1.

Resuming their first innings on day two at 10/1, Haryana crumbled under spin, but managed to reach 149, thanks to Shubham Rohilla’s valiant 64 off 145 deliveries. Rohilla’s patient knock was laced with just four boundaries before he was cleaned up by Bamal, who returned with figures of seven for 42 in his 23.5 overs – his career-best in first-class cricket.
In reply, Services were wrapped up for 79 with lower-order batsman Diwesh Pathania top scoring with 25 runs. Kundu was the pick of the bowlers with five for 35 in his 14.3 overs, while offspinner Amit Rana, who bagged four wickets in the first dig, pocketed another four and went for just 24 runs in his 8.1 overs.
