New Delhi: India‘s boxing sensation Vijender Singh on Saturday met cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar in Gurgaon and invited him for his WBO Asia title fight scheduled to be held in Delhi on 11 June. Vijender, who is a huge fan of Sachin Tendulkar, also briefed the master blaster about the structure and future of professional boxing. On meeting Tendulkar, Vijender Singh said: “Meeting the legend Sachin Tendulkar is always an inspiration for any of the sportsperson. “I am happy that Sachin follows boxing and he asked me about my training regime of pro boxing. He was happy the way my professional career is progressing, he asked me about the structure of professional boxing in other countries. Meeting him was really a big motivation for me and he assured me of full support for my all future bouts,” Vijender added. Tendulkar has friends across a lot of sports and he has interest in many sports. He is sometimes seen watching tennis matches. Tendulkar is also the owner of the Kerala Blasters Football Club, which is a franchise in Indian Super League (ISL).

Taking of Vijender, he has been in terrific form of late and has performed exceedingly well in WBO. Considering Tendulkar’s massive fan following in the nation, if he takes an active interest in boxing as well, the game may receive promotion and to some extent will get slightly more popular in the country.
