Nicholas Pooran once again proved his class with a solid knock of 62 runs off 24 balls with six sixes to put newcomers Northern Warriors on top and make their win against Maratha Arabians an easy affair in the 12th match of Season 2 of the T10 League at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Northern Warriors chased down the 94-run target in the eighth over with 11 balls to spare in the rain affected nine-over match. They lost just two wickets.

Pooran entertained the crowd with his stellar performance that also include four boundaries and two sixes. He was well supported by opener Lendl Simmons, who scored 16 and Andre Russell, who scored 15 off 10 balls.

The win pushes Northern Warriors to the top with Bengal Tigers, also on four points, but the Warriors end as group champions by virtue of a better net run-rate.

Earlier, Maratha Arabians scored 94 for six after the match was reduced to nine overs. Nazibullah Zadran top scored with 27 runs in just nine balls with an average of three runs per ball with four sixes.

Opener Hazratullah Zazai became the second highest scorer of the tournament with 16 while wicket keeper Brendon Taylor smashed 15 off 7 balls and Alex Hales added 13 to give the Maratha Arabians a respectable total.

Hardus Viljoen took three wickets for 16 while Wahab Riaz took two wickets for 20 to restrict the Arabians to 94 for 6 wickets.
