Shahid Afridi set the opening match of T10 League 2017 on fire, at Sharjah. After Maratha Arabians had a blistering start to their 122-run chase, Afridi strangled their momentum with a hat-trick, getting the better of Rilee Rossouw, Dwayne Bravo, and Virender Sehwag.

The  Arabians were cruising to the target, scoring 46 for 2 in 4 overs. Sensing trouble, captain Shahid Afridi employed himself into the attack and sucked the life out of the Arabians. He first cramped Rossouw for room, getting him caught at long-on. He then trapped the all-important wickets of Bravo and Sehwag with the one that holds its line. The Arabians lost half the side within 5 overs, eventually falling 25 runs short of the target set by Pakhtoons. Afridi was rightly awarded Player of the Match for his spell of 3 for 19.
