Virender Sehwag is taking Kings XI Punjab forward in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 game against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. Currently, Glenn Maxwell is batting with Sehwag and in nine overs, Punjab are 73 for two. Click here for Live Blog of the Kings XI Punjab vs Kolkata Knight Riders game in the IPL 2014.
Maxwell got off the mark when he played Morne Morkel through the leg-side for a single. Initially, Maxwell was kept quiet as Sunil Narine came on in the seventh over and bowed in the right channels. Jacques Kallis then came on in the eighth over and Sehwag tried to loft him over the top and he was lucky when Ryan ten Doeschate ran across but could not take the catch. And then Sehwag smashed one down the ground for a six. That added insult to injury. Narine then came back for the ninth over and Sehwag edged one through third man for a four. He then placed one to mid-wicket and ran a couple. He then moved closer to his fifty with a few singles.
Earlier, Kolkata won the toss and chose to bowl first on a good looking surface at the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. Kolkata brought in Morne Morkel and Piyush Chawla for Shakib Al Hasan and Vinay Kumar. Punjab dropped Shivam Sharma and Laksmipathy Balaji and brought back Parwinder Awana and Rishi Dhawan.
