Mirpur: Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Aamer, who produced a sensational performance in his side’s five-wicket loss to fierce rivals India in Asia Cup on Saturday, has received rave reviews from the cricketing fraternity. Defending a paltry target of 84, Aamer briefly raised his side’s hopes of claiming an upset win over India after reducing the opponents to 3-8 in the third over in Mirpur. The 23-year-old removed both Indian openers Rohit Sharma (0) and Ajinkya Rahane (0) in his first over with a brilliant in swinger before dismissing Suresh Raina (1). However, star batsman Virat Kohli remained calm under tense situation in his 49-run knock as he thwarted the opposition’s fightback to help his side cross the victory target. Meanwhile, former greats Wasim Akram and VVS Laxman also lavished praise on the left-armer, who returned to cricket earlier this year after serving a lengthy ban for spot-fixing. “What a spell from Amir. “Thoroughly enjoyed watching Mohd.Amir bowl tonight. It was a great sight to see him swing the ball at 145-150kph. Gr8 talent #AsiaCupT20,” legendary Indian batsman Laxman said. Pakistan coach Waqar Younis has termed Aamer’s performance against India as “outstanding” but at the same time said his sufferings in the last five years after being convicted for spot-fixing has been his own fault for which no one should feel bad.
