Dimuth Karunaratnec Sean Williams b Hamilton Masakadza 26 43 4 0 60.47
14.4
H Masakadza to Karunaratne, OUT! Caught! The man with the golden arm strikes! A length ball outside off, Karunaratne slashes hard and guides it straight to gully where Sean Williams takes it to his right. There was extra bounce on that occasion and Karunaratne could not keep it down. End of a brisk opening stand.
Kaushal Silvalbw b Chris Mpofu 37 73 6 0 50.68
24.1
Mpofu to Silva, OUT! LBW! Mpofu strikes! Full outside off, nips back in, Silva misses his tuck and is hit on the pads. Mpofu appeals and the umpire raises his finger! Silva wants to take the review but he is timed out! Hawk Eye shows the ball to be missing leg.
Kusal Perera (W)c Carl Mumba b Hamilton Masakadza 4 5 1 0 80
16.3
H Masakadza to Perera, OUT! He has thrown it away! That is a poor shot from Perera. Full and outside off, Perera looks to go over the top but it is an ungainly shot. Carl Mumba has been placed at a deepish mid on and Kusal probably was trying to go over him. Unfortunately for the batsman, he does not middle it and skies it in the air. Mumba goes to his left and calmly takes it. Quick wickets for Masakadza!
Kusal Mendisc Peter Moor b Donald Tiripano 26 39 5 0 66.67
27.6
D Tiripano to Mendis, OUT! Caught behind! That is a very, very good ball. Pitches this on a length outside off, forces Mendis to play at it and then makes the ball move away a touch to get a thin outside edge. Moor does the rest. The fielding side appeals and umpire Ian Gould raises his finger! What a start for Zimbabwe after Lunch!
Upul Tharangac Hamilton Masakadza b Graeme Cremer 79 155 8 0 50.97
78.3
G Cremer to Tharanga, OUT! Zimbabwe get a breakthrough just before the second new ball. The decision has been overturned! Beautiful bowling. Full and outside off, Tharanga looks to drive but gets a thick outside edge. At least that is what we all felt straightaway. The ball went to the keeper who could not collect it and was searching for the ball. But it lobbed off his hand towards gully where Hamilton Masakadza ran a bit to his left from first slip to take the catch. Umpire Simon Fry did not think there was an edge and Zimbabwe took the review. There was nothing in the replays which could assist the third umpire due to the absence of Hot Spot and Snickometer. But the third umpire overruled the decision, perhaps going by noise. Tharanga falls short of a century and the 143-run stand is broken at last.
Dhananjaya de Silvac & b Graeme Cremer 127 245 14 0 51.84
104.6
Cremer to Silva, OUT! Cremer has taken a one-handed stunner! Serves a full floated ball on middle, de Silva leans forward and across to turn it on the leg side but fails to close the face of the bat at the right time. It pops out back towards the bowler off the leading edge who stretches full length to his right and takes a stunning catch in front of the non-striker. Well done, skipper! It brings an end to a wonderful knock by Dhananjaya.
Asela Gunaratnest Peter Moor b Sean Williams 116 193 15 1 60.1
144.4
S Williams to Gunaratne, OUT! STUMPED! Zimbabwe manage to bowl out Sri Lanka. Tossed up outside off, Gunaratne comes down the track and swings hard but is not to the pitch of the ball. Peter Moor whips off the bails easily. Gunaratne does not even bother to go back. SRI LANKA HAVE BEEN BOWLED OUT FOR 504 AT TEA ON DAY 2!
Dilruwan Pereralbw b Graeme Cremer 34 45 4 1 75.56
116.4
G Cremer to Perera, OUT! LBW! That was dead plumb. Tossed up around middle, Dilruwan stays back to defend but misses and is hit on the pads. Cremer appeals and the umpire raises his finger. Dilruwan asks his partner whether he should review but Gunaratne sends him on his way. Hawk Eye shows that the ball was hitting the off stump.
Rangana Herath (C)c Peter Moor b Donald Tiripano 27 51 4 0 52.94
135.4
D Tiripano to Herath, OUT! Here is the wicket Zimbabwe dearly wanted! Tiripano hurls across another short delivery outside off, Herath tries to emulate the last shot (square cut) but this time fails to middle it as it's too close to his body. A faint edge goes behind to the keeper who for a change doesn't drop. End of a 75-run stand!
Suranga Lakmalb Donald Tiripano 0 2 0 0 0
135.6
Tiripano to S Lakmal, OUT! Off stump goes for a walk! Tiripano runs in from over the wicket and angles in a full ball on off, Lakmal tries to defend it from the crease but it stays low and sneaks through to uproot the off stump. Oh dear, Asela Gunaratne is at the other end on 91 with only one wicket remaining. Good thing is that he now will have the strike and would look to farm it. Can he score a century and also take Sri Lanka past 500?

Tino Mawoyolbw b Rangana Herath 3 16 0 0 18.75
5.2
R Herath to Mawoyo, OUT! Mawoyo is trapped in front! Herath dishes out an arm ball around off and gets it to skid on with the angle. Mawoyo leans forward in defense, playing for the away spin which isn't there. To his surprise and disappointment, it has rapped him on the pads and the finger has gone up after the lbw shout was made. An early setback for Zimbabwe.
Brian Charib Rangana Herath 80 158 9 2 50.63
54.4
R Herath to Chari, OUT! IT'S THE SKIPPER WITH THE BREAKTHROUGH! It's a big, big wicket for Sri Lanka. Herath comes from around the wicket and bowls an arm ball around off, it's drifting in as Chari comes forward to block. There's a big gap however between bat and pad and the ball goes right through it. Takes the off pole and that brings an end to Brain Chari's brilliant knock. Is quite unfortunate to miss out on his maiden Test century.
Hamilton Masakadzac Dhananjaya de Silva b Rangana Herath 0 2 0 0 0
5.4
R Herath to Masakadza, OUT! Two in two for Herath! He is on fire. Flighted ball on off, spinning away a shade, Hamilton gets forward to defend but edges it behind. de Silva at first slip goes down low and takes a sharp catch. Masakadza cannot believe his luck and starts to walk reluctantly before the umpires stop him and go upstairs to check whether it's a clean catch or not. Sift signal given is out. The replays confirm it's cleanly taken by Dhananjaya de Silva and Hamilton has to continue with his long walk back to the pavilion. Zimbabwe off to a poor start.
Craig Ervinec Dimuth Karunaratne b Suranga Lakmal 64 112 8 0 57.14
42.3
S Lakmal to C Ervine, OUT! LAKMAL STRIKES! And what a delivery this is. Sri Lanka really needed this. The pacer was bowling really well and he's gotten the desired result. Excellent length delivery just outside off, there's some late away movement as Ervine has a poke at it. That does him in as the ball takes a healthy edge. It flies to Dimuth Karunaratne at first slip who doesn't make any mistake in taking that. A fighting knock from Craig Ervine comes to an end and the 117-run stand has been broken.
Sean Williamslbw b Dilruwan Perera 58 93 8 0 62.37
75.1
D Perera to Williams, OUT! SEAN IS GONE! What a review by the Lankans. Dilruwan Perera has struck gold for his team here. He's got the big fish and against the run of play, too. He bowls a flatter delivery from around the wicket, it's sliding in from around off. Williams leans forward and across to paddle it fine down the leg side but misses and is hit on the front pad. There are loud appeals for an lbw but the umpire turns it down. Dilruwan talks it out with is captain and then, the skipper takes the review. Replays show the ball to be hitting the stump and Williams is caught dead plumb. What a wicket! The southpaw was looking solid and was the key for the home side. The Islanders will be looking to wrap it up soon.
Malcolm Wallerc Kaushal Silva b Rangana Herath 18 26 1 0 69.23
63.2
R Herath to Waller, OUT! Rangana Herath strikes just at the stroke of lunch. He brought himself into the attack and got what he wanted. Complete brain fade from Malcolm Waller, should have survived this over. Tosses it up around off, asking Waller to go after it. He accepts the proposal and goes for a drive. Fails to keep it down and ends up spooning a catch to Kaushal Silva at short extra cover who dives in front and takes it inches above the ground. With that, it's LUNCH ON DAY 3!
Peter Moor (W)lbw b Dilruwan Perera 33 53 5 0 62.26
79.1
D Perera to Moor, OUT! What was PJ Moor trying to do there? That's such a poor shot to play. Even he knew it straight away. Short and flat on middle, it's turning in and skidding a bit off the surface as well. Moor goes back and looks to glance it away but misses and is caught plumb in front of the stumps. Roaring appeals go up for a leg before and the umpire wastes no time in raising his finger.
Graeme Cremer (C)c Dimuth Karunaratne b Dilruwan Perera 3 10 0 0 30
77.4
D Perera to Cremer, OUT! WHAT A CATCH FROM DIMUTH! An absolute blinder. It's still unbelievable how he even held on to it. Fuller and flat well outside off, Graeme Cremer flashes his bat hard at it. Gets a big edge which rockets straight to Karunaratne at second slip. No idea how but he got his hands up in a flash and caught it reverse cupped. Ridiculous stuff! That was taken on pure instincts. The Zimbabwean skipper has to make the long walk back and that's another wicket for Sri Lanka.
Donald Tiripanoc Rangana Herath b Suranga Lakmal 3 13 0 0 23.08
82.1
S Lakmal to Tiripano, OUT! ZIMBABWE HAVE BEEN CLEANED UP! Length ball on middle and leg, Donald Tiripano backs away and mistimes his hoick towards mid on. Herath is the man there and he dives low to his left to take a good catch. He's hurt his hand in the process but he seems to be fine, nothing too serious. So with that, ZIMBABWE ARE ALL OUT FOR 272!
Carl Mumbalbw b Rangana Herath 2 9 0 0 22.22
81.5
Herath to Mumba, OUT! HERATH WITH ANOTHER ONE! He now becomes only the 3rd player after Muralitharan and Dale Steyn to get a 5-fer against all the 9 Test playing nations. He comes from around the wicket and drifts in an arm ball on middle and off, Mumba lunges forward to block but misses the ball completely and is caught plumb in front of the stumps. The umpire raises his finger but Mumba takes a review against it. He must have thought might as well since 2 reviews are left. He takes it but to no avail as the replays show him to be gone.

C Mpofu to Karunaratne, OUT! DIMUTH IS DISMISSED! How unfortunate for the left-hander, he's missed out on what would have been a well-deserved ton. Mpofu comes running in and pitches it just back of a length on middle and leg, Karunaratne looks to keep it out off the back foot but the ball keeps just a little low. He's rapped on the pads and there are loud appeals for a leg before. The umpire raises his finger but Dimuth wants to take the review, despite it looking plumb, and you can't even blame him really. Replays confirm he's gone. He now has to make the long walk back.
Kaushal Silvac Malcolm Waller b Carl Mumba 6 22 1 0 27.27
7.3
C Mumba to Silva, OUT! ZIMBABWE STRIKE EARLY! In the first over after the break. Vital breakthrough. Good length ball shaping in on middle and leg, Kaushal Silva flicks this uppishly. Unfortunately for him, it's straight into the hands of Malcolm Waller at short mid-wicket and that's the end of his brief stay.
Kusal Mendisc Chris Mpofu b Carl Mumba 0 10 0 0 0
11.4
C Mumba to Mendis, OUT! That's an extremely poor shot. A player of Mendis' quality should know better than that. Mumba keeps it on the shorter side and bowls a back of a length delivery outside off. Maybe Kusal was expecting a fuller ball and hence didn't get into position early. He gets a top edge as he tries to pull and it balloons towards Mpofu at mid on who takes the easiest of catches. Sri Lanka lose their second wicket in quick succession.
Upul Tharangalbw b Graeme Cremer 17 14 3 0 121.43
17.5
G Cremer to Tharanga, OUT! The decision stays as it is! Graeme Cremer strikes in his very first over! Loopy ball outside off, turning in sharply as Tharanga misses his back foot flick only to be rapped on the pads. Cremer turns back to appeal and umpire Ian Gould rules it out. It looked dead plumb to the naked eye but Tharanga still opts for the review. Replays show it to be pitching in line and would have gone on to crash the leg stump. Graeme is all smiles and Zimbabwe are on a roll here.
Dhananjaya de Silvac Brian Chari b Carl Mumba 9 48 1 0 18.75
33.3
C Mumba to de Silva, OUT! Straight to the fielder! Sri Lanka are 4 down and Carl Mumba has taken three of them. Certainly not a wicket taking delivery this one but the home side won't mind it at all. Bowls a low full toss outside off, de Silva goes for the drive but ends up chipping it straight to Chari at short extra cover who makes no mistake. Mumba is absolutely pumped up and boy, why won't he be?
Asela Gunaratnelbw b Donald Tiripano 39 92 8 0 42.39
60.5
D Tiripano to Gunaratne, OUT! ASELA IS GONE! Finally, after a relatively long struggle it's Donald Tiripano who has got the breakthrough. He comes running in and angles in a fuller length ball on middle and off, Gunaratne leans across in an attempt to flick it away but misses and is rapped right in front of the stumps. No trouble for the umpire to raise his finger as that's dead plumb. The 69-run stand has been broken and it's just what Zimbabwe needed.
Kusal Perera (W)c Sean Williams b Graeme Cremer 62 69 8 1 89.86
81.4
G Cremer to Perera, OUT! CREMER GETS A KUSAL BREAKTHROUGH! Obviously not in terms of the game, but it's still an important one. Kusal Perera comes down the track and takes it on the full. He looks to clear the long on fence but instead finds the man there. Sean Williams is positioned there and he does well to settle himself under the ball and take a good reverse cup. And with that, SRI LANKA HAVE DECLARED ON 258/9!
Dilruwan Pererac Hamilton Masakadza b Graeme Cremer 2 4 0 0 50
73.6
G Cremer to Perera, OUT! Another wicket down for Sri Lanka! Cremer bowls it slower through the air and tosses it up outside leg, it's turning as Dilruwan Perera kneels down to sweep it away. He's a bit early into the shot as the ball goes off his glove and into Masakadza's hands at first slip.
Rangana Herath (C)b Graeme Cremer 4 5 1 0 80
75.3
G Cremer to Herath, OUT! Cremer has another! This was a yorker from the Zimbabwe skipper that has done his opposite number in. Full and around off, Herath looks to sweep it across the line but is beaten and the off pole is out of the ground. What a ball and Sri Lanka lose another and lead by 443!

13.6
R Herath to Mawoyo, OUT! Edged and it's taken! That's a superb catch by Dhananjaya de Silva, mind blowing! Herath gives this one loads of flight and hurls it around off, Tino Mawoyo presses forward to defend but the ball turns away, takes the outside edge and flies towards first slip where de Silva is very alert. He bends forward and low and grabs it just inches above the ground. He was confident the moment he took that. The umpire still refers it upstairs and replays show that's cleanly taken. A 3-fer already for the Lankan skipper and he is leading from the front again. Zimbabwe slip further.
Brian Charib Rangana Herath 8 17 1 0 47.06

Herath to B Chari, OUT! Bowled 'em! Rangana Herath draws first blood for the umpteenth time. Bowls a slider around off, it hits one of the cracks there and skids in as well. Chari prods forward to defend but there is a huge gap between his bat and pad as the ball goes through to take the middle stick out. Sri Lanka need 9 wickets to win!
Hamilton Masakadzalbw b Rangana Herath 10 13 2 0 76.92
9.6
Herath to Masakadza, OUT! Herath has another! He bowls a tossed up delivery around middle, scoots through the surface as Masakadza is a tad late to defend it by coming forward. Misses the line and is rapped on the pads right in front of the stumps. A loud appeal goes up and the umpire raises his dread finger. Hamilton takes the review and replays show it was in line and would have gone on to clip the leg stump. So, the umpire's call stays. Zimbabwe rocked early in the run chase, SL need 8 more wickets to win.
Craig Ervinec Dhananjaya de Silva b Rangana Herath 72 121 9 1 59.5
51.1
R Herath to Ervine, OUT! WHAT A CATCH, DE SILVA! Floated well outside off, Ervine looks to sweep but does not connect well. de Silva goes to his left at first but then spots the edge going to his right and he recovers in time to take the catch with both hands. The players celebrate but Ervine thinks that he has not hit it and points towards his arm to Donald Tiripano. The replays show that it is touch and go, it did hit the arm but also seemed to have brushed the glove. There is not enough evidence to over-rule the on-field call and it stays out and that is a big wicket for Sri Lanka. One wonders if Ervine needed to attempt such a shot. Anyway, he has to go, he is not happy but Sri Lanka inch closer to a victory. They are just two wickets away! That is also five for Herath, his 27th five-wicket haul in Tests!
Sean Williamsc Kusal Mendis b Lahiru Kumara 45 47 5 1 95.74
28.6
L Kumara to S Williams,OUT! Kumara strikes! This is the wicket they wanted as Williams was looking good out there. Hurls it on a length outside off, some bounce off the deck as Williams pokes at it timidly. An outside edge is induced and Mendis at first slip takes a sharp catch bending forward. Lahiru Kumara is absolutely pumped up as he breaks the 74-run stand.
Malcolm Wallerc Kusal Perera b Dhananjaya de Silva 0 1 0 0 0
29.4
de Silva to Waller, OUT! That's gone! de Silva bowls a flatter ball around off, scoots through the surface. Waller comes forward to defend but misses and K. Perera behind the stumps collects it. The Lankans go up in an appeal but the umpire shakes his head. Dhananjaya was very confident and convinces his skipper to take the review. Replays show there was some noise but to be honest it wasn't that conclusive enough. However, the TV umpire feels it the other way. He heard some noise as the ball goes through to the keeper. The on-field call has to be overturned and Zimbabwe now have lost half their side.
Peter Moor (W)c Kusal Mendis b Rangana Herath 20 30 3 0 66.67

R Herath to Moor, OUT! Herath strikes again! What a catch! Boy, these Sri Lankans are electric on the field today, they have taken everything that has come their way. Tossed up ball around off, turns away a bit after pitching. Moor gets back to defend but ends up playing it a bit uppishly towards silly point where Kusal Mendis takes a sharp catch. This is also Herath's 50th Test wicket in the calendar year. SL need 4 wickets to win!
Graeme Cremer (C)b Rangana Herath 5 10 0 0 50

Herath to G Cremer, OUT! BOWLED 'EM! Rangi is right on the money once more. Bowls an arm ball once more and it's dipping and swerving here.
