Looking at the current performances of England cricket team in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, the incoming England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chairman Colin Graves hinted the return of former skipper Kevin Pietersen to the England team.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 5’s Sportsweek, Graves suggested that Pietersen can make a dramatic comeback but he has play county cricket first, he said,“The first thing he has to do if he wants to get back is start playing county cricket. The selectors and the coaches are not going to pick him if he’s not playing, it’s as simple as that. I’ll leave it at that.”

Graves added that it is upon the selectors to select Pietersen,“At the end of the day it’s down to the selectors and coaches and what they feel is best for English cricket. They will make the decisions and I will support their decisions.” The right-handed batsman has already made it clear by saying that he would love to play for England again, despite after being dropped from the national side after the disastrous Ashes tour of 2013-14.

Graves will take over the position of ECB chairman from Giles Clarke in May sounded positive about the whole Pietersen issue and said the first move has to be for Pietersen to play domestic cricket. It will be interesting to watch how Pietersen will stage a comeback as currently he is currently without a county after leaving Surrey. Pietersen will be spending the first part of 2015 season by playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
