Afghanistan aim for a clean sweep over Bangladesh in the 3-match T20 International series at Dehradun. Afghanistan won the first match by 45 runs and the second by 5 wickets, with 7 balls to spare. Bangladesh have not been poor on the field, but their batsmen have been all at sea against the Afghan spin trio of Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Zadran, and Mohammad Nabi. Here is a statistical preview of the 3rd T20I.
2 Test-playing nations whom Afghanistan have whitewashed a bilateral T20I series of 3 or more matches. They had beaten UAE in UAE in 2016 and Ireland in Greater NOIDA in 2016-17, both 3-0.
10 runs needed by Shahzad (1,880) to go past Tillakaratne Dilshan (1,889) and secure 4th spot on the all-time tally, after Martin Guptill (2,271), Brendon McCullum (2,140), and Virat Kohli (1,983). In the process Shahzad will also need to go past Shoaib Malik (1,887).
8 runs needed by Nabi (992) to become the 2nd Afghan (after Shahzad) and 49th overall to reach the 1,000-run mark, provided he reaches there before Asghar Stanikzai (936).
4 cricketers have done the 1,000 run-50 wicket double in T20Is — Shahid Afridi, Shakib Al Hasan, Dwayne Bravo, and Thisara Perera. Nabi is 4 runs short of being the 5th. Of all cricketers with over 1,000 runs, only Afridi (98) and Shakib (76) have more wickets.
2 wickets needed by Nabi to reach the 6th spot on the all-time tally, after Afridi (98), Lasith Malinga (90), Umar Gul (85), Saeed Ajmal (85), and Shakib (76). Nabi (65), currently tied with Stuart Broad at 8th spot, is a wicket behind both Ajantha Mendis and Nuwan Kulasekara.
