Former India pace bowler Venkatesh Prasad has quit Kings XI Punjab, replaced by Sridharam Sriram who served as assistant coach of Delhi Daredevils and has had stints as spin bowling consultant with the Australian cricket team.

Prasad’s exit comes a day after Virender Sehwag parted ways with the IPL franchise after his contract was not renewed. Prasad, 49, was KXIP’s bowling coach for one season.

The Mohali-based franchise recently named former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson as coach for the 2019 IPL.

Under R Ashwin’s leadership, KXIP failed to make the knockout stages of this year’s IPL despite winning five of their first seven games.
