Ashish Nehra has been recalled to the T20I squad for India’s limited-overs tour of Australia. This is perhaps the most surprising call up among all the other unexpected selections which include Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh. Nehra has not even played First-Class cricket this year. It’s been four years since Nehra played for the men in blue and it seemed like his international career had seen it’s end but the selectors saw sense in taking his experience on what could be a tough tour of Australia. With the ICC World T20 2016 looming in the horizon, good performances could give teams a platform to make it to that squad. The squad also sees the inclusion of Hardik Pandya as an exclusive to the T20 side. Mohit Sharma is neither in the T20I or One-Day International (ODI) squad owing to some fitness issues. Mohammed Shami makes a comeback after a lengthy injury lay-off and will be his first international assignment after a vastly successful ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. He will feature in the ODI squad as well. ALSO READ: Ravindra Jadeja makes comeback to India ODI squad for tour of Australia
The batting line-up will consist a core of familiar names such as Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Kohli, Raina, Dhoni, Yuvraj and Ajinkya Rahane. The all-rounders will be Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. Harbhajan Singh, Umesh Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ashish Nehra are included in the T20I squad as bowlers.
