Sylhet: West Indies beat Bangladesh by eight wickets in the first Twenty20 international in Sylhet on Monday to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Sheldon Cottrell picked up a career best 4/28 as West Indies bowled out Bangladesh for 129 runs in 19 overs, before Shai Hope guided the visitors to 130-2 in 10.5 overs with his 55 off 23 balls.
Shakib Al Hasan earlier top-scored for Bangladesh at the Sylhet International Stadium with 61 off 43 balls.
Earlier, Cottrell and fellow pacer Oshane Thomas choked Bangladesh at the start of the innings as opener Tamim Iqbal (five), Liton Das (six) and Soumya Sarkar (five) all fell to short-pitch deliveries. In-form Mushfiqur Rahim was run out for five, leaving Bangladesh 48/5 before six overs of batting power play.
