The uncapped Dhaka Metro batsman Shadman Islam looks set to make his Test debut for Bangladesh in the second match against West Indies at Mirpur after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) stated that Imrul Kayes is out with shoulder niggle sustained during the Chittagong victory.
Shadman was already in the squad for the first Test and with the selectors not naming a replacement for Kayes, the 23-year-old looks set to make his debut as opening partner to Soumya Sarkar. In 42 first-class matches, he has scored 3023 runs at 47.50.

His most recent innings have been 73 for a BCB XI against the touring West Indians in Chittagong before the first Test, while this domestic season he has three fifties and two big hundreds (189 and 157) for Dhaka Metro in the domestic four-day competition.
Shadman was also a part of the Bangladesh Under-19 World Cup squad in 2014.
Kayes scored 44 and 2 Chittagong after managing 5, 43, 0 and 3 in the Tests with Zimbabwe. “The physio report says that Imrul has injuried in his shoulder and toe. He will need 10 days for recovery,” chief selector Minhajul Abedin said.
Bangladesh squad: Shakib Al Hasan (capt), Soumya Sarkar, Mohammad Mithun, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Ariful Haque, Khaled Ahmed, Shadman Islam
