The first Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan is evenly poised heading into Day 3. Sri Lanka are 40 runs ahead in the match with one wicket down. The match is in the balance and the first session will decide where the match is headed to. A good partnership for Sri Lanka will set them up for a big score while a couple of wickets could trigger a collapse as the wicket in not easy to bat.
Earlier, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 222 in their first innings, with Shaheen Afridi taking 4 wickets. In reply, Prabath Jayasuriya decimated the Pakistan batting, picking a 5-wicket haul. Pakistan were 85-7 at one point but Babar Azam scored a brilliant 119 to take Pakistan to 218. Sri Lanka then scored 36-1 till stumps on Day 2. Dimuth Karunaratne was the Sri Lanka batter to be dismissed as he was LBW by Mohammad Nawaz.
