India are all set to take on Sri Lanka in a five-match One-Day International series from November 2-16. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had to make last-minute arrangements to set up this series as West Indies withdrew from the tour midway after the fourth ODI.
India announced their squad on October 21 while Sri lanka announced their squad on October 22. India made some changes by giving their regular skipper MS Dhoni a break. Virat Kohli will lead India for the first three ODIs. Ravichandran Ashwin who was rested from the ODI series against West Indies makes a comeback in place of Kuldeep Yadav. Varun Aaron too made a comeback in to the team. Mohammed Shami was picked for the side but the selectors were forced to make a change as Dhawal Kulkarni came in for injured Shami.
The schedule for the India vs Sri Lanka series was announced on October 21. The venues which missed out on hosting the West Indies matches have got an opportunity along with Ranchi.
Sri Lanka brought in Lahiru Gamage. Their key batsman Dinesh Chandimal has been dropped, Niroshan Dickwella comes in as a specialist wicketkeeper. There are some regular faces in the squad led by Angelo Mathews. Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene along with all-rounder Thisara Perera will be a key part of the series for Lanka.
